My works are about memory, and how reminiscing plus time alters the reality and truth of the moment. This surrealist idea has been a concept that was unrecognizable at first, yet always present. I believe that feeling lost or unsure of an image or situation forces the person experiencing it to create new ways of thinking about their world and how they move within it. In the past, I have used a variety of subject, composition, and juxtaposition within both two and three dimensional artworks to help express this idea that has only recently made itself more visible to my eye. Currently, my subject matter has come to include figurative portraits of myself and my small family. This has drastically altered my practices in the past few years and provided a clearer and more direct narritive for the viewer while maintaining a creative modality I enjoy.

The imagery I have found myself creating has been described as hallucinogenic due to my adoration of color and florescence working harmoniously with composition. Fluorescent colors in my works often heighten the nature of how disjointed the figure or figures may seem with their environment.  This is mainly because of my desire to convey a sense of time and memory to the viewer and allow them to experience what I personally experienced through visual means. I also believe that these works have allowed me to express a sense of reflection that I experience while creating works. These pieces have often served as a vehicle for reflecting upon the importance of transformation in life. Without change within ourselves and our surroundings we would eventually become stagnant, which eventually will give way to decay.  My goal for my works is to relay the sense of bizarre wonder that connects us either through memories childhood, child rearing, or honesty through self reflection.
